Oskar Sundqvist is heading back to St. Louis.

The Blues re-signed the veteran forward to a one-year, two-way contract on Friday, bringing back a player who already knows what it takes to win in this city.

His new deal carries an $850,000 salary at the NHL level and pays $300,000 in the minors, with $350,000 guaranteed. PuckPedia laid out the full breakdown:

Sundqvist spent last season with the Blues and chipped in 17 points, five goals and 12 assists, across 52 games. He reached unrestricted free agency this summer before circling right back to the club.

He still brings the heavy, physical bottom-six game the Blues have leaned on for years. Sundqvist was part of the 2019 team that raised the Cup in St. Louis, and he gives the group a reliable presence down the middle when healthy.

Pittsburgh drafted him 81st overall in 2012, and he has since suited up for the Penguins, Blues, Red Wings and Wild. His career line sits at 181 points, 67 goals and 114 assists, in 545 regular-season games, plus 13 points in 44 playoff outings.

It has been a busy summer for St. Louis, which also has restricted free agents like Connor McMichael working through arbitration.

A one-year, two-way deal keeps it simple for both sides. Sundqvist gets another run in a place he knows well, and the Blues get cheap, familiar forward depth on a contract that carries almost no risk.
